Super Bowl
Join us at Pine Needles and Mid Pines for the Super Bowl!
Would the Super Bowl by any other name be just as exciting?
Not many people know how the Super Bowl got it's name. And it's actually due to an unlikely source! Want to know more? Read further to find out this interesting piece of trivia....
The very first Super Bowl was held on January 15th, 1967. Nearly 60 million people tuned in to watch who will be the First World Champion of Football.
When it came time to choose a name for the big event, a meeting was held in the summer of 1966. The original name of the event was "The AFL - NFL World Championship Game." Everyone agreed this name was too long and needed a shorter name to refer to it by....
"Final Game," "Football Championships," "Ultimate Bowl."
(Fun Fact: the word "bowl" was already being used to describe a football championship game for some college teams)
However, none of these name stuck. Until Kansas City Chiefs owner, Lamar Hunt, blurted out the perfect name with staying power, "The Super Bowl!"
It was not until an interview in 1970 when Hunt told reports his real reason behind his flash of brilliance. At that time, in the 1960's a "wacky invention" turned into one of the most popular toys for children... the bouncy ball! (At that time it was known as the Super Ball) Hunt admitted that his children loved to play with this new toy called a Super Ball. When ideas were being presented, he thought of Super Bowl.
Hunt can be an inspiration to anyone. Next time you are stuck in a brainstorming meeting, don't be afraid to say what's on your mind! It could lead to something great.

Need another reasons to watch this year? This might be the most evenly matched game. The Patriots and the Seahawks are both 14-4 including the playoffs. Every other team has lost at least 5 games this season. This is a huge change from 1992 when both team were terrible at a 2-14 season.
Whether you want to watch the game, are more interested in the commercials or can't wait to see the half-time performance ... make Pine Needles and Mid Pines your destination this Sunday!
Drink & Menu Specials to be announced soon!

If
we are able to generate enough interest we will have a format meeting or signup

Again,
please let Richelle know of your interest by January 30th and at that point we
will contact all interested with further information.
You
can also speak with Graham or Brett in the meantime for more information.
NOTE: If we qualify for the final matches we
would have "Home Field" advantage as the finals will be held at Mid
